How to Open a Vintage Swingline #3 Speed Stapler
A Swingline #3 Speed Stapler is a vintage, all-metal stapler. The stapler was available in gray, black and copper as well as being available in a small and large size. The vintage Swingline #3 stapler can be used with regular-sized staples. In order to add staples, the stapler must be opened to expose the staple holding tray.

2
Lower the upper portion, or the portion the latches held in place, downward.

Place the staples in the staple holding tray. The spikes of the staples should be pointed downward.
-
5
Rotate the back metal piece 180 degrees to place it back over the staple holding tray.
-
6
Push the front metal piece upward, so it covers the staple holding tray and back metal piece.
-
7
Lower the latches on both sides of the stapler, so the latches hold the front metal piece in place.
