Instructions

    • 1

Wash hair with your normal shampoo and skip conditioning. Soak up excess moisture with a soft towel, avoiding rubbing or pulling at wet hair. Comb out tangles and allow hair to dry enough to the point where it is slightly damp and not dripping.

    • 2

Put 1/2 tbsp. coconut oil in one hand, then rub it between your hands. The warmth emitted from your skin will help spread the oil so that hands get an even coating but not too much oil.

    • 3

Comb your fingers through hair gently, starting a couple of inches from the roots and making your way down. Be sure to get all of your hair through your fingers to properly coat it. Avoid coating your roots, as there tends to be more natural oil at the roots already.

    • 4

Take 1 tsp. of oil and rub it between your hands, then gather the ends of your hair and run your hands through them. The ends of hair need extra nourishment, especially if you have weak or split ends.

    • 5

Wrap hair on top of your head and pin as needed, then put a plastic shower cap over it. Let hair sit for 1 hour, then rinse out the oil with cold water. Rinse for at least 5 minutes to ensure that you remove all the oil.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do this treatment once a week to help keep hair strong and healthy.

  • Depending on your hair's length, you may need to use more than 1/2 tsp. of oil; remember that you want enough oil so that hair has a glossy sheen but not so much that hair is oozing with oil.

  • For added nourishment, wrap your hair in the shower cap, then take a warm towel and wrap it around your head. The heat will help oil penetrate deeper into the hair shaft and can be a relaxing bonus.
