How to Sort Email Addresses by Name in Outlook thumbnail
Sort your contact list by name, so you can easily access the people you email.

Your "Contact List" is the list of people you contact through email. It usually includes first and last names and their email addresses. However, a contact list could also have other pieces of information, such as someone's postal address or phone number. In Outlook, you can sort the lists in several different ways. One of the ways is by name.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your email account and click on your "Contact List."

    • 2

Click on "Name" at the top of the screen. This is the heading for the column that tells your contacts' names. The screen will refresh and your contacts will be sorted by name.

    • 3

Click on "View" and then choose "Arrange Contacts" from the list. Choose "By Name" to insure that your contacts will always be arranged by name.
