Share your iPod music with anyone on your network.

Though iTunes is used to put music on to your iPod or play music on your personal computer, you can also share your music files with anyone on your home network. In order for others to access your music files, you must have an Internet network and your iTunes set to enable network sharing.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch iTunes using your desktop icon or through the Start menu.

    • 2

Open iTunes Preferences located under "File." Check all the song titles in your library that you wish to share, and make sure the "Share" option is checked. Save the changes.

    • 3

Open iTunes on the other computers and search for shared music to add to the library under "File" and "Preferences." Make sure "Look for Shared Music" is checked. On the main iTunes screen, shared libraries or playlists will appear in the iTunes Source list on the left.

Tips & Warnings

  • When sharing music, be sure your Internet router is set with a password so not just anyone with a wireless card can access your files.
