How to Convert TS to Xvid

You can watch decrypted DVDs with the popular Xvid codec by converting VIDEO_TS files to Xvid. The open-source Xvid codec enables compressing entire DVDs to the size of a CD. According to Xvid Movies, most DVD players support Xvid videos. Compressing video to Xvid is faster than compressing video to MPEG-2, even though Xvid files are smaller and more compressed. Encoding videos with the Xvid codec saves hard drive space, and the videos will play in any Xvid-enabled player.

Instructions

  1. AutoGK

    • 1

Download and install the AutoGK file converter from Gordian Knot. Run the software.

    • 2

Click the folder next to "Input file" to open a browser on your hard drive. Convert the TS files of an entire DVD by double-clicking the IFO file of the disc to load it in the program. The IFO file will have a TS name such as "VTS_01_0.IFO."

    • 3

Click the folder next to "Output file" to choose a hard drive folder where you want to save your Xvid file. Double-click the output folder to select it.

    • 4

Click the option button next to "Predefined size" and choose "2 CDs" from the drop-down menu. Choose "1 CD" if you want a smaller file, although this choice will result in a loss of image quality.

    • 5

Click "Add Job" and "Start" to convert the TS file to Xvid format.

    Xilisoft Xvid Converter

    • 8

Click the blue button in the toolbar at the top of the screen to start converting the TS file to an Xvid video. The "Status" column in the conversion queue window will display the progress of your file conversion.

    AVS Video Converter

Download and install the video-converting software from the AVS website. Run the software.

    • 10

Click "Browse" next to "Input File Name" to look for the TS file on your hard drive. Double-click the file to add it to your AVS converting session.

    • 11

Click "Browse" next to the "Output File Name" to choose a folder where you want to save your Xvid file. Double-click the folder to close the browser window.
