How to Put Rag Curlers in Hair
Before the days of curling irons, women often used rags to curl their hair overnight. This technique involves the use of several thin strips of rags that you wrap your hair around to create volumized curls. Curling hair with rags can take some time to master, so don't try this for the first time the night before a fancy outing. With a little practice, however, you can learn to create beautiful rag-tied curls in your hair with ease. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Cut the cotton rags into 20 or 30 strips that are 1 in. wide and 6 in. long. You can vary the length and width for larger or smaller curls.
-
2
Wet your hair in the shower and pat with a towel; rag curling works best on dampened hair.
-
-
3
Brush out your hair and make an even part. This is very important when working with rag curls; if you do not part your hair, you will end up with uneven curls.
-
4
Comb a small section of your hair near the front of your head and place a strip of cloth evenly across the tips of the hair.
-
5
Wrap the hair up, around the cloth until you've reached about 3/4 of the way up your head.
-
6
Tie the ends of the cloth underneath the curl of hair to hold it in place.
-
7
Repeat this process until you've wrapped all your hair into rag curls. Allow your hair to dry overnight.
-
8
Untie the rags and brush out your hair to reveal volumized, bouncy curls.
