When querying an Access database it may be necessary for you to search for a specific criterion. To satisfy a condition, the use of operators can offer the appropriate end-result. Based on the outcome desired, you can select one of these operators to assist with your search. Access supports a variety of operators, including arithmetic operators such as +, -, multiply (*) and divide (/), in addition to comparison operators for comparing values, text operators for concatenating text and logical operators for determining true or false values.

      Open Access by clicking "Start," then "All Programs," then "Microsoft Office" and finally "Microsoft Office Access 2007."

      Click the "Microsoft Office "Button," then select and click "Open" and finally "Northwind 2007."

      Click the "Create," tab then select "Query Design," in the "Others," group.

      Click the "Customers," in the show table panel then select "Add."

      Select the "Company, Last Name, First Name and Job Title" field in the Customer table.

      Place the cursor on the criteria field under the Job Title column and right-click. Select "Build" from the menu and then input "= Processing Manager," in the Expression Builder window and finally click "OK."

      Close and save your query that will search for each "Purchasing Manager" contained in the Customers Table.
