Tips & Warnings
When training in home economics, it is an asset to have strong likes and skills in the fields of domestic arts, such as cooking, sewing, interior decorating and family-related subjects such as childbirth, child rearing and family planning. Home economics once was a staple class required by many schools if the student was female. In today's modern education system, many schools are eliminating their home economics programs due to waning interest in the field and in domesticated arts.
