Increase the speed of your Celeron processor by changing internal power settings.

The Celeron processor is the CPU used in the Dell Inspiron 2500 series of laptops. The Celeron processor performs all the calculations the laptop needs to function properly. The speed with which the Celeron processor performs these calculations directly effects the performance and speed of the laptop. To increase laptop performance, the CPU speed is increased. Increasing the CPU speed is done through internal Windows options found in the Power section of the Control Panel.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the Windows "Start" icon and select the "Control Panel." Click "System and Maintenance" and then click "Power Options."

    • 2

Select "High Performance" from the list of power options to the right. High Performance mode allows your laptop to use more of the CPU's speed and power. Underneath the High Performance section, click "Change Plan Settings."

    • 3

Press the "Change advanced power settings" link. Move down the list of text boxes to the "Processor power management" area. Expand the area and click "Minimum Processor State." Type "100" into the field and click "OK" to save the change. Setting this field to 100 locks the computer into using 100 percent of it's CPU power on any tasks being performed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Return your power plan to the normal option by clicking the "Return to Defaults" button in the "Power Options" section of the Control Panel.
