How do I Start a Restaurant & Nightclub?
Starting a restaurant and nightclub may seem like a glamorous business venture, and it can certainly prove to be quite profitable. Most figure that starting a restaurant and nightclub means being able to party for a living while entertaining the town's hippest crowd and serving up a menu of delectable food. However, owning such as business requires a great investment of time, money and energy and requires more work than play.

1
Figure out the target market for your establishment, as well as what type of restaurant and nightclub you're opening. For example, you may decide to open a venue that is only open to those 25 and older, or a restaurant and nightclub that caters to college-age students.
-
2
Get the business permits needed in your area to run a restaurant and nightclub. This may include an employer identification number (EIN), state tax identification number, fictitious name certificate (a legal document showing the operating name of a company, as opposed to the legal name of the company), food manager certification, food handler permits, food enterprise license and alcohol servers permits.

3
Check with your city to see what the noise ordinance is, if any, and whether you need to obtain a permit to play loud music after a certain time. Nightclubs typically play music loud enough to be heard outside of the building, so this permit is important to check for.
-
4
Purchase or lease a building large enough to serve as a restaurant and nightclub. You will need a dance area, DJ booth, seating for your lounge area, a dining area, kitchen space, male and female restrooms and a break space for employees.
-
5
Obtain a liquor license from your state's alcoholic beverage commission or regulating agency. Such a license typically costs several thousand dollars, but is essential for a restaurant and nightclub. Much of your revenue will be earned by selling alcohol.
-
6
Develop a menu that suits your clientele. For instance, if you are opening an upscale jazz nightclub and restaurant, grilled steak, bacon-wrapped scallops, chocolate crème brulee and martinis and would be appropriate menu items to offer.
-
7
Market your nightclub and restaurant. Try launching a promotional website, hiring a team of promotional models to pass out fliers on college campuses and at other clubs, bringing in well-known DJs, having discounted, themed nights, such as “Ladies Night," buying radio ads and creating social networking accounts.
