How to Share Nintendo DS Games
The Nintendo DS handheld gaming system features the ability to play multiplayer games locally using the system's networking functionality. Certain games allow local network multiplayer gameplay with only one copy of a DS game, using a feature known as DS Download Play. Through Download Play, both multiplayer game sharing and DS game demos can be transmitted wirelessly from a DS host system to multiple systems in the same location. Note that multiplayer games transmitted through DS Download Play will only remain on the other DS systems until the power is turned off. Demos will remain until the receiving DS is powered off.
Instructions
-
Enabling DS Download Play on Host DS
-
1
Insert the game card into the DS system that will host the Download Play session.
-
2
Power on the Nintendo DS system; it's important to do this second so that the DS system recognizes the game you inserted.
-
-
3
Tap the game's icon from the DS main menu to begin the game.
-
4
Select the correct multiplayer mode on the system; the multiplayer mode varies by game. Certain games will list both Nintendo Wi-Fi multiplayer and standard multiplayer. Select the option that is listed as local multiplayer, or simply "multiplayer." Nintendo Wi-Fi multiplayer games are played over wireless Internet connections and do not support DS Download Play.
-
5
Tap the option designated as DS Download Play from the multiplayer menu. Not every game supports DS Download Play, so the option may not be available. Depending on the game, either a full multiplayer game or a game demo can be wirelessly shared.
Accessing DS Download Play on Receiving DS
-
6
Tap "DS Download Play" from the DS system's menu to enable the system to receive the host game.
-
7
Tap the title of the game being transmitted by the host DS.
-
8
Touch "Yes" to begin downloading the game from the host. Once the download is complete, game sharing will be enabled between the systems.
