How to Fix the No Audio Device Installed Error

If you're attempting to play audio on your computer but continue to get a "No Audio Device Installed" error, this means that there is no device driver for your sound card installed on your machine. Windows has no way of communicating with your sound card, which in turn cannot pass audio information along to your speakers. You can fix this by simply installing the appropriate device driver on your machine.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the device driver for your sound card. If your computer came with a "Drivers" CD-ROM, it will be on this disc. If no CD-ROM was present, you will have to go to the manufacturer's website for your sound card and download the appropriate driver from the site. The name of your sound card manufacturer will be in your computer's instruction manual.

    • 2

Insert the "Drivers" CD-ROM into your computer (if applicable). When the "Drivers" installation loads, click "Install." This will automatically install all missing drivers on your computer, including the one for your sound card. When the process is finished, restart your computer and you will no longer receive the "No Audio Device Installed" error.

    • 3

Double-click the device driver install file (if applicable). Click "Extract." This will install the driver for your sound card on your computer. When the process is finished, restart your computer and you will no longer receive the "No Audio Device Installed" error.
