Call Thermador if your appliance has the codes of the recalled appliances.

From its first electric heaters in 1917, Thermador has been building high-end home appliances for more than 70 years. The company introduced such innovations as the first self-cleaning oven, the first wall oven and the first smooth cook-top. Although Thermador is well known for its quality products, it has ordered recalls of products, including ovens and cook-tops, because of fire hazards. Start troubleshooting your Thermador appliances by checking your model numbers and date codes to see if your oven or cook-top has been recalled. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Check the temperature of your oven while it is in the self-cleaning mode. If it is overheating, shut off your oven immediately and contact Thermador at 800-735-4328. Thermador ovens have been the subject of a recall because there are gaps in insulation in the appliance. Ovens have been heating to over 1,000 degrees, which can overheat the surrounding cabinets, and possibly set them on fire.

Check the date code on your oven, which is located under the control panel. If your oven is dated between FD8403 and FD8701, it has been recalled.

    • 3

If you turn off your Thermador ceramic stove top and seconds later it turns itself on, contact Thermador immediately at 800-735-4328. Unplug the cook-top from the outlet when you are not using the stove top, and remove all items, including pans, cooking utensils and food, from the appliance when you are not standing by it.

    • 4

Check the underside of the stovetop for the model number and date. Models CIT302DS/01 and CIT362DS/01 with date codes between 8606 and 8612 have been recalled. Contact Thermador at 800-735-4328. Thermador will send a repair person to your home for free to correct the problem.

Check the "Holiday" button on your Thermador refrigerator if the interior light will not turn on and the ice maker is not working. Especially designed for frequent travelers and people with specific religious observances, the Holiday setting keeps the temperature settings intact but shuts down the light and the ice maker. Open the door to the refrigerator and look at the control panel at the top of the appliance. Press the "Holiday" button to turn the setting on and off.
