Installing Bluetooth on an Acer laptop can really broaden the computer's capabilities, making it easier for you to get your laptop online and network with other electronic devices. This networking tool adds to the perks of simplicity that laptops contribute to our everyday life. This installation is rather simple because it only requires downloading the driver specified for your Acer computer. The driver is the software that installs the Bluetooth device to your laptop. To install the Bluetooth device on your laptop, you simply add the device's software to your laptop.

Open your Internet browser. In the address bar located at the top of the browser, type "support.acer.com" to go directly to the Acer software site to locate the application software compatible to your laptop model. You will be prompted to enter your country on the map picture displayed on the screen. Click on your country, which should be listed as a link.

Click "Drivers and Downloads" located in the left pane of the screen. The driver is the application's software that enables its functional capabilities on your operating system. You must download the device's driver to install the function and apply it to your hard drive. On the Drivers and Downloads page, select "Notebooks" in the first drop-down box. A list of laptop model names will appear. Choose your Acer laptop's model name and click "Search." The next page displays the generated results of drivers and software downloads that are compatible with your laptop.

Scroll through the list and click on the Bluetooth function download. It should be called "Bluetooth Driver and Application." Read the operating system listed under each version to ensure that you apply the right one to your system. Click "Download File" listed under the operating system to begin the installation. Your computer's file download screen will appear.

Click the "Save" option to begin the download. Save the file in the default folder your operating system provides. When the download is complete, go to the file's location. Right-click on the file to display the additional options for the file. Scroll down the menu and click "Extract All." The extraction will reveal the setup application link and icon. Click the icon to begin the initial downloading process. The download will begin, and once it is complete, another screen will appear.

Click "OK," and another screen will automatically appear. It will prompt you to read and agree to the terms the license agreement. Click "I Agree" to continue. The last portion of your download will appear in the InstallShield Wizard. The InstallShield Wizard will inform you that the download has completed successfully. Click "Finish" to close the installation application.

Tips

Stay in close range with the device you are trying to pair your laptop's Bluetooth function to. Distance affects the stability and success of the pair and will make it more difficult to keep your laptop online. Remember to disable your Bluetooth function when you are done using it. Bluetooth takes a lot of battery life to run because it is an internal function.

Warnings

Make sure your operating system meets the minimum requirements needed to install the Bluetooth function successfully. Use the right Bluetooth version for your operating system.
