How to Replace a Tungsten C Battery

A screwdriver will do the job.

With Internet access and a sleek touchscreen display, the Palm Tungsten PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is almost like a pocket PC. Like any other hand-held electronic device, it needs a functioning battery to operate properly. The Tungsten E is a chargeable hand-held unit, which means the battery is located inside the device and requires some disassembly to get to. If you do it yourself, you'll save a lot of money by not taking it into the shop.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your Tungsten C off and flip the unit over. Use your small Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on the back corners of the unit.

    • 2

Pull the back cover gently off of the unit to expose the circuit board and internal components inside. Set the back cover aside.

    • 3

Locate the battery cable in the upper left side of the circuit board. Unplug it from its port in the circuit board.

    • 4

Lift the circuit board up and flip it to the left so it is lying next to the side of the Tungsten. Be careful not to move it too far away because the board is connected to the front half of the housing via a ribbon cable.

    • 5

Lift the rectangular battery out of its compartment on the back side of the circuit board and set it aside.

    • 6

Fit a new battery in its place and replace the circuit board in the housing. Connect the battery cable to the port on the top side of the circuit board.

    • 7

Replace the back cover of the Tungsten and the four screws.

Tips & Warnings

  • The manufacturer does not recommend opening your device, which will void any warrant you may have.
