How to Hibernate Your Computer in Windows 7

Turning your computer off when you are finished can take extra minutes. Window 7 provides you with a hibernation feature. Instead of powering your computer off, hibernation stores the current state of your computer in memory. When you are ready to use your computer again, power it on and resume from the hibernated state faster than having to boot from scratch.

Instructions

    • 1

      Click "Start" and select "Shutdown."

    • 2

You will see these options: "Switch User," "Log Off," "Lock," "Restart," "Sleep," and "Hibernate."

    • 3

Select "Hibernate." The current state of your computer will be saved into memory.
