How do I Watch TV Stations on My Computer?
You can watch all your favorite TV channels, including your favorite cable stations, on your computer monitor by installing a video card with a TV tuner. The TV tuner portion of the video card has a coaxial TV outlet that allows you to hook your cable connection directly to your computer to view it on your monitor. There are also HD video cards available that allow you to connect to it with an HDMI cable to watch your favorite programs in high-definition.

1
Unplug the computer from the power outlet to reduce the risk of shock and internal damage to the computer.
-
2
Unscrew the case screw on the back of the computer. The case screw is a large screw that protrudes out from the back of the computer; twist it loose with your hand. If the screw is too tight for you to twist loose with your hand, place a flat-head screwdriver into the fitting to loosen the screw. Pull the screw back out of place so that it stays connected to the computer case but still allows you to open the case.

-
3
Grab the side of the computer case where the screw was and pull back to open and remove that side of the case.
-
4
Lay the computer on the side that is still covered and locate the video card. Follow the video card to the metal plate screwed to the back of the computer. Unscrew the metal plate using a Phillips screwdriver. Firmly grab the video card with two hands and gently pull up until the video card unplugs and comes free from the computer. Remove the video card.
-
5
Insert the new cable-ready video card into the slot where the old video card was plugged in. Position the metal plate and insert the screw, tighten with a Phillips screwdriver. Reposition the side casing and tighten the security screw. Plug the coaxial cable into the coax port, plug the computer into the electrical outlet and turn the computer on.
-
6
Install the software that was included with your video card, which will install a program that will allow you to view TV stations and change channels.
