How do I Apply for an Irish Truck Driving Test Online?

You need to take a special test to drive trucks in Ireland.

Ireland has a special driving license category specific to trucks. To have this category added to your license, you need to take and pass a test demonstrating your ability to drive a truck, then apply to upgrade your license to include the new category. You can schedule your truck driving test by phone, in person or online. As of August 2010, some online applicants have the option of selecting a test date and time, while others will be assigned a date and time.

• A debit, laser or credit card

Instructions

1. Direct your preferred web browser to the Road Safety Authority in Ireland, rsa.ie.

2. Click "The driving test" under the "Learner Drivers" section.

3. Click "Apply Online." This will take you to a page providing you with more information about how to apply online.

4. Click "Apply for your driving test in English" near the bottom of the page or "Apply online (English)" in the upper right corner of the page. This will open a screen welcoming you to the online driver test application system.

5. Click "Continue." The next page will request some of your relevant information, including your driver number, first name, surname and date of birth.

6. Enter the requested information, then click "Sign in."

7. Follow the prompts to finish applying online for your Irish truck driving test. You will need to provide your PPS (Personal Public Service) number, an email address and a debit, laser or credit card number during this process.

8. Check the email address you provided to receive your test date and time.
