Look for the original product key on the CD case, in the confirmation email from the official download or in other official documentation included with the Office software.

Open an Internet browser and navigate to an online serial key search database (see Resources).

Type in the complete name of the desired product key and version number if applicable. In this case, "Microsoft Office XP Pro" is sufficient.

Press the "Search" button.

Click on the links to the serial keys that match the desired version of Office.

Copy the provided serial key by highlighting it and pressing "CTRL+C."

Open a Notepad file and paste the key by pressing "CTRL+V," then press "ENTER" to start a new line.

Repeat the two previous steps until you have at least five keys.

Start the installation of Microsoft Office XP Pro and enter the copied serial keys from the Notepad file using "copy and paste" until one of the free product keys is accepted and the installation may continue.
