How to Add RAM to My Toshiba
The RAM (Random Access Memory) module is a rectangular chip in your Toshiba laptop that determines how much information your computer can process while operating. RAM is measured in megabytes and the more megabytes your RAM module has the quicker your computer will run and the better it will generally perform. On many modern laptops like Toshiba laptops, the RAM is accessed from a compartment on the bottom of the computer. This makes it possible for you to replace the RAM yourself.

Turn off your Toshiba laptop and turn the computer over.

Locate the battery on the edge of the bottom of the computer. Slide the adjacent battery latch to the unlock position and remove the battery from its port.

Locate the memory compartment on the bottom of the computer. Consult the user guide for your model Toshiba if you have problems finding it. Usually it is in the middle of the computer and there is a single retaining screw on the top of it.

Remove the screw holding the compartment cover in place. Lift up the compartment cover and you will now have access to the memory module.

Pull out the metal clips on either end of the module using your index fingers. The module will then pop up. Pull it gently out of the compartment. On some Toshiba models there is a second module in the compartment. Repeat the process to remove it if there is an extra module in your Toshiba.

Insert the memory module at a 45-degree angle into the compartment. Make sure the notch at the bottom of the module lines up with the notch in the compartment.

Press the module down until the clips lock in place.

Replace the compartment cover and retaining screw.
