How to Split Cable TV & Internet

Digital cable signals can be used not only to transmit a cable signal to a television, but also to transmit a signal to a modem for Internet use. If you get cable and Internet from your cable provider, you can connect both services to a single cable outlet. As long as you have the right equipment, splitting your cable between television and Internet is a simple task.

Instructions

Use a coaxial cable to connect your coaxial wall socket to the coaxial input port on your cable splitter.

Connect the next two coaxial cables to the two coaxial output ports on the cable splitter. Connect these cables to the input ports on your digital cable box and modem.

    • 3

Use the fourth coaxial cable to connect the output port on your digital cable device to the input port on your television.

    • 4

Use the Ethernet cable to connect the modem and the Ethernet port on your PC. Your single digital cable signal should now be connected to both your PC and television.
