PlayStation 2 CDs can be copied using ISO-burning applications.

Sony PlayStation 2 CD discs are 700MB in size and can be copied using freeware programs available online. You want to create a backup copy your PS2 CD if you want to replace it in the event of damage or theft. Copying your PS2 CD to a burnable ISO disc image file on your computer and then burning the ISO to a CD-R will take about 15 minutes of your time.

Instructions

Turn on your computer and log into your user account. Open a Web browser window, then download an ISO read/write program from the list in the Resources section. Install the program and restart your computer. Log into your user account once more.

Eject the CD burner's disc tray, then place a PS2 CD inside and close the tray. Run the ISO program and click "Read CD to ISO" and provide a name for the ISO file being created. Click "OK" and the program will begin copying the entire PS2 CD to a single ISO file on your computer's hard drive.

Wait for the ISO read process to complete, then eject the disc tray and remove the PS2 CD. Insert a blank CD-R and close the tray. Click "Burn ISO to CD" in the program's main menu and select the ISO file you just created. Give the CD-R a title, select a disc burn speed (choose 1x, 2x or 4x to avoid hardware errors that occur at higher burning speeds) and then click "OK." The program will begin burning the PS2 CD ISO to the CD-R. You will be able to use the CD-R as soon as the burn process finishes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not copy PS2 CDs that you don't own yourself. Copying PS2 CDs that you do not own or have downloaded from the Internet is illegal under federal law.
