How to Clean an Old Camerathumbnail
Old cameras can often take beautiful photographs.

Many hobbies exist, and oftentimes, a hobby can actually combine two popular pastimes. For example, if you have a collection of old cameras, then your hobby might include collecting these vintage items, as well as photography in general. Even if you only own one vintage camera, you need to know how to properly clean it if you want it to continue to work and hold its value. You need to be especially careful when cleaning the lens of an old camera.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Lens cleaning brush
    • Lens cleaner
    • Leans cleaning cloth
      • 1

Use a lens cleaning brush or blower brush to remove any loose dust or other particles on your old camera. Be especially careful around the lens because it can get damaged easily.

      • 2

Add a few drops of lens cleaner to a lens cleaning cloth, also known as a microfiber cloth. Do not saturate the cloth.

      • 3

Start by cleaning the old camera's lens. From the center of the lens, use the damp area of the cloth to wipe the lens using a circular motion, until you reach the outside edge of the lens.

      • 4

Clean off any other stuck-on debris or dust with the dampened cloth. You may need to add a few more drops of cleaner.

      • 5

Dry off the lens and other areas of the old camera with a dry side of the lens cleaning cloth.
