Brewing beer at home is a popular hobby for many beer enthusiasts. For many, simple and easy recipes of basic beers are good enough. Others, however, won't stop until they have brewed a great beer. While taste is wholly subjective, making a great version of any beer is little more than taking extra special care to make sure the best ingredients are prepared in the best possible manner, assuming you already know how to brew beer. Wash everything that will ever come into contact with your brew. Then wash it again. Rinse it thoroughly as soap may settle into small nicks and scratches otherwise.

Sanitize it. Use a large bucket of sanitizer to make sure you can fully immerse and soak your equipment. Rinse thoroughly to ensure that all the sanitizing chemicals are off before using.

Clean and sanitize your equipment again and again as you're brewing your beer. One of the most vulnerable times for contamination is while the wort cools. Having a clean and sanitized wort chiller will help to eliminate these concerns.

Rinse and clean your empty bottles and store them in a clean, dry place. Sanitize them immediately before bottling your beer. Sanitize your bottle caps as well.

Shop around and locate the freshest hops, freshest malt and most active yeast. Fresher is better when it comes to beer.

Keep your yeast refrigerated to keep it fresh; however, make sure it warms to room temperature before you use it. This will allow the yeast to empty fully from the bottle as well as spread through the wort more evenly and smoothly.

Using fresh hops rather than processed hops pellets will result in a richer hops flavor and fragrance. Do note that because they aren't concentrated hops pellets, it will require a bit more hops flowers to get the same results.
