Enabling the Swype keyboard on a Droid X phone is a straighforward process.

One of the many attractive features of the Motorola Droid X is the ability to turn on and use the Swype keyboard. The Swype keyboard allows you to quickly enter text on the touch screen without having to repeatedly tap the screen. The primary advantage of the Swype keyboard for Droid X owners is the increased speed and accuracy it can offer, relative to conventional touch-screen typing. Fortunately, it is also relatively easy to enable Swype typing on the Droid X.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Menu" button, which is the far left physical button on the front of the Droid X.

    • 2

Select "Language & Keyboard" from the menu that appears.

    • 3

      Select "Input Method."

    • 4

Click "Swype" to enable the Swype keyboard on the Droid X phone.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Swype software will learn new words that are not in the included dictionary. If Swype is not recognizing a word, type it in using the conventional touch-screen keyboard. When the word is typed in the future, Swype will recognize it.
