External HDTV tuners typically come with a remote for channel surfing.

Many flat-screen computer monitors with built-in speakers are capable of reproducing high-definition video and digital audio. These units are typically labeled HD monitors. The HD standard is 1080p, which means 1,080 lines of resolution on the screen. Although the monitor may be capable of reproducing this level of video detail, it cannot receive HDTV programming unless it is connected to an HDTV tuner. Many models of external HDTV tuners are available at electronics stores and typically come with their own remote controls for changing channels.
