How to Connect a VHF Wireless Microphone to a PC
You can attach a VHF microphone to your computer with the right adapters. VHF stands for Very High Frequency and it refers to the frequency range that the wireless microphone transmits at. VHF microphones transmit signal between 170MHz to 216MHz. They are the most commonly used wireless microphones because they are cheaper than higher frequency wireless microphones. You do not need a sound mixer to get the sound from a VHF microphone to your computer.

Look at the back of your VHF microphone's receiver. Find where it says "Output" or "Audio Out." You are trying to figure out what kind of cable you need to plug into the output of the receiver to get to your computer. You will see one or more of three types of inputs: RCA, quarter-inch and XLR. You want to use the RCA or quarter-inch outputs.

Get the right cable. If you are using the RCA outputs, you need an RCA to eighth-inch cable. If you are using the quarter-inch output, you need a quarter-inch cable. For the quarter-inch cable, you need to have a quarter-inch female to eighth-inch male adapter.

Plug the appropriate cable into the output of the VHF receiver and into the computer's microphone jack with the eighth-inch end.

Turn on the microphone and the receiver. Set the frequency the same on both so that the receiver reads the microphone.

Use the microphone with the software of your choice. If you hear wireless interference, change the frequency settings on the microphone and the receiver.
