How to Repair an Unmountable Boot Volume
A "boot volume" on your computer is the hard drive containing the operating system, an important component to a functional computer. Repairing a boot volume unable to properly mount its installed operating system is necessary when hardware issues or malware have corrupted the boot information on the drive. Repair this with the tools in your operating system.

Insert the Windows disc into the computer. Restart the computer and press any key when prompted to boot from disc.

Select your keyboard, language and currency type and click "Next."

Click "Repair your computer," click "Next," select the drive containing Windows and click "Next."

Click "Command Prompt." Type "bootrec.exe /fixboot" and press "Enter" to fix the boot volume.
