How to Flash a DVD Burner Firmware Update
When you "flash" the firmware for your DVD burner, you update it to the newest version. Firmware refers to both the computer chip that operates the DVD burner as well as the software that is installed on the chip itself. In the case of flashing firmware, what you're updating is the software on that computer chip. Most DVD burner manufacturers release firmware updates on their official websites in the form of executable files that complete the entire process automatically.
