How Do I Make a Jesus Hemp Bracelet?

How Do I Make a Jesus Hemp Bracelet? thumbnail
Hemp twine is a durable bracelet-making material.

Many contemporary fashion trends can easily be customized to reflect an interest in the Christian faith, and hemp bracelets are no exception. Hemp twine is sturdy and easy to work with and it is fairly simple to include beads and pendants in a knotted hemp bracelet design. You can personalize your hemp bracelet with letter beads spelling "Jesus" or with charms featuring Christian imagery. Even if you have never made a hemp bracelet before, you can complete your own handmade Jesus hemp bracelet in an afternoon.

Instructions

    • 1

Wrap a piece of hemp twine around your wrist and determine the desired bracelet length. Cut two pieces of twine about 4 inches longer than the desired bracelet length. Cut two more pieces of twine six times longer than the desired bracelet length.

    • 2

Line up the four lengths of hemp twine next to each other, so that the longer lengths are on the outside and the shorter lengths are in the middle. The longer outside strands will be used for knotting the bracelet and the two shorter inside strands will serve as base strands for the bracelet.

    • 3

Insert the four lengths of twine into a metal cord tip clasp and crimp the metal tip around the twine pieces with a pair of pliers. Tape the attached cord tip clasp to the edge of a table with masking tape while you knot the bracelet.

    • 4

Fold the right-most knotting strand over the two base strands and under the left-most knotting strand. Slide the left-most base strand under the two base strands and up through the space between the base strands and the right-most knotting strand. The right-most knotting strand is now on the left and the left-most knotting strand is now on the right. Pull these strands tight to complete the first knot.

    • 5

Fold the new left-most knotting strand over the two base strands and under the new right-most knotting strand. Slide the right-most knotting strand under the base strands and up through the space between the left-most knotting strand and the base strands. The right- and left-hand knotting strands have now returned to their original sides. Pull these strands tight to complete the second knot.

    • 6

Continue alternating these two knots until you are ready to add a Jesus letter bead or charm. Slide the two base strands through the hole in your letter bead or charm. Tie the next knot in your sequence on the far side of the bead and continue adding knots as before, alternating between the two knots.

    • 7

Complete the bracelet by tying off all four strands when the bracelet has reached the desired length. Trim the remaining twine to 1/4 inch and slide the cut twine-ends into a second metal cord tip clasp. Crimp the clasp around the twine-ends with a pair of pliers.
