How to Train for MCP
MCP stands for "Microsoft-certified professional." Someone who has acquired MCP certification has demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft products and services. Microsoft offers several certifications in their MCP program. Some examples are systems administrator (MCSA), database administrator (MCDBA) and technology specialist (MCTS). Anyone can register for the certification exam of their chosen field. However, you must effectively train and study the course material to pass the exam.

1
Attend instructor-led training classes. Classes are available online and in a classroom setting. They are taught by Microsoft-certified trainers (MCT). According to Microsoft.com, "MCTs provide a superior learning experience by drawing on their in-depth knowledge of the course material and by using official Microsoft learning products."
-
2
Read Microsoft Press books. Books by Microsoft Press were written by Microsoft experts and contain the information you need to pass your exam. Select the book that corresponds with your certification.
-
-
3
Use a self-paced training kit. The training kits were created by authors who are experts in the content that is used to administer Microsoft certification exams. Each kit has several elements designed to help you prepare for the exam. Some examples of the contents of a kit are: best practices, case scenarios and a self-paced study guide.
-
4
Take practice tests. Microsoft-certified practice test providers offer practice tests based on the same content and format as a real Microsoft certification exam. These tests can be a good way to reveal your weaknesses in certain areas and provide a clear path to improvement (see the second Resources link for a Microsoft-certified company that offers practice tests).
