How to Save an iMovie to Quicktime

Apple's iMovie video-editing application allows you to export your movie to QuickTime, the Mac video player. This is one of the built-in sharing options in iMovie. Exporting to QuickTime changes the iMovie to the MOV format. It also gives you access to settings for video, sound and Internet streaming.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open the iMovie software.

    • 2

Click "File" then "Open" and open the iMovie you wish to export.

    • 3

Click on the "Share" menu and select "Export Using QuickTime." The exporting window opens with the format set to QuickTime Movie.

    • 4

Enter a title and save location for the saved file in the window that appears on the screen.

    • 5

Click the "Options" button, if desired, to access the video, sound and Internet streaming settings. The default settings are fine for most purposes.

    • 6

Press "OK" to leave the "Options" window and press "Save" to save the iMovie to QuickTime.
