Family Tree Maker 2010, a genealogy software program by Ancestry.com, has a new feature that allows you to download your family tree from your Ancestry.com account to your computer and merge it with your tree in Family Tree Maker. Before you download and merge your family tree, you'll need to be online.

Instructions

      Start the Family Tree Maker 2010 program and open your family tree.

      Click on the "Plan" tab at the left side of the horizontal menu bar at the top of the screen.

      Click on "New Tree."

      Select the "Download a tree from Ancestry" option.

    • 5

      Click the "Download" or "Export" button to the right of the family tree you wish to merge.

    • 6

      Select "merge" in the window that opens. This will begin the process to merge the tree from Ancestry.com with the open tree in Family Tree Maker.

Tips & Warnings

  • New data added to the tree in Family Tree Maker are not automatically added to your online tree at Ancestry.com.
