How to Make Arm Warmers Out of Sleeves

Arm warmers not only keep arms warm during the cold winter months but also allow the wearer to show off her individual style. Arm warmers can range from a variety patterns and styles and are worn for practicality or fashion. Some women refrain from buying store-made arm warmers and opt to make their own. This enables the wearer to display her individuality. Making your own arm warmers is also a cheaper alternative to buying them at the store.

Things You'll Need

• Shirt with Interesting Pattern
• Erasable Fabric Marker
• Measuring Tape
• Scissors
• Iron
• Needle
• Spool of Thread

1. Select a long sleeve shirt with a desirable pattern.

2. Cut each sleeve from the shirt.

3. Place the sleeve on your arm and mark the desired length of the arm warmer with the erasable marker. Remove the sleeve from your arm, and repeat with the other sleeve.

4. Cut each sleeve 2 inches above the mark. Erase the mark from each sleeve.

5. Fold 1 inch of the top of the sleeve down. Repeat with the other sleeve.

6. Iron down the 1-inch fold on each sleeve.

7. Hand-stitch around the bottom of the ironed fold. Fold the top of the sleeve to the stitch and hand-stitch around this second fold. Repeat with the other sleeve.

8. Place each sleeve back on your arms and mark 2 inches above the knuckles with the erasable marker.

9. Repeat steps 4 through 7 on the bottom hem of each sleeve.

Tips & Warnings

• Add extra style to the arm warmers by sewing on a trim or buttons to top of the arm warmers.

• Do not cut or sew the sleeve while wearing it.
