How to Turn on a Yamaha Rhino 660

Introduced in 2004, the Rhino 660 is a side-by-side off-road utility vehicle produced by Yamaha. The machine quickly gained a reputation for its unequaled versatility, capable of handling everything from daily farm chores to weekend hunting trips. Unlike an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle), the Rhino utilizes automotive-derived controls, allowing someone who's never ridden an ATV or dirt bike to drive the Rhino comfortably. Bringing the Rhino to life isn't complicated, though it may take a little more effort on a cold morning.

  • Do not operate the starter motor for more than five seconds at a time. The starter motor is easily damaged by heat generated by constant use. Release the key if the starter motor fails to start the motor after three to five seconds, then try again.
