There are more than 50 types of dasa or "dasha" astrology systems, but the most common one is the Vimshottari dasa astrology system. Dasa refers to the period of a planet's rule within your astrological sign. A birth chart can be created of the year, day and minute you were born containing the star constellation where your moon is placed. The degree where it was placed determines what planets will rule your life and the effect these planets have on your life. It is similar to a daily horoscope, but with much more information.

1. Find a dasa or "dasha" calculator online or in a book on vedic astrology.

2. Enter in the year, month, day, hour and minute of your birth. Also indicate whether it was daylight saving time or not. You'll also need to provide the location of your birth.

3. Submit all information and receive the calculation online or find it in the astrology book. Read the details of your life by days, weeks and years.
