How to Disable Nero Checks

By default, Nero indexes and stores every media file on your computer with a database application called Nero Scout. Nero begins indexing your media information whenever you add audio or video to your media library. However, if no new media is added, Nero Scout will begin checking your computer on a weekly basis and cross-referencing all information with every media device used on your computer. Users may disable Nero checks by removing Nero Scout from their computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your computer and click the "Start" button in the lower-left side of the main Windows screen. Double-click the "My Computer" icon.

    • 2

Right-click on the "Nero Scout" application icon and select "Options."

    • 3

Uncheck the "Enable Nero Scout" box in the "Options" window. To remove Nero Scout from your computer's task bar, uncheck the box entitled "Show Nero Desktop Search."
