Instructions

    • 1

Gather information from your pastor and fellow church members. Set a deadline for receiving content. For example, announce that you must have all newsletter submissions by the Wednesday before the first Sunday of each month. Your newsletter might include a letter from your pastor in addition to birth and death announcements, a prayer list, a calendar of events, committee reports and attendance numbers. Adjust articles or content as needed.

    • 2

Sketch the layout for your newsletter on a piece of paper with a pencil. Use a boxed layout to give the letter a look of segmented areas of different sizes. Draw a long narrow box at the top for the newsletter title and three narrow boxes underneath for the church name, pastor's name and date. Draw one wide and two narrow boxes underneath those that are two inches tall each. Sketch more boxes of different sizes as desired for the layout. Write the subject titles into each box. This is your road map for recreating the newsletter on your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Put pictures into separate cells from the text. Pictures within text cells cause the text to separate.
