How to Set Up an IP Proxy Server
A proxy server provides a gateway for network users to access the Internet. The Windows operating system comes with an internal application that allows you to use your desktop computer as an IP proxy server. The IP addresses are set up by your Windows proxy server, and each computer connects to the proxy server's Internet connection for online access. This makes it easy for users to set up IP addresses and proxy servers in the home or in a small office.

Right-click your local area connection network card or the Internet connection you want to share. For instance, if your Internet connection is wireless, right-click the wireless connection. Select "Properties" from the menu.

Click the "Sharing" tab. In this tab, click "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" and click "OK." Click "Yes" in the warning dialog button.
-

Reboot your server computer and then reboot each client computer. The proxy server hosts the IP address configurations, so client machines are unable to connect until they are rebooted.
