How to Open DWG Drawings in Autodesk

How to Open DWG Drawings in Autodesk thumbnail
DWG drawings are produced by the AutoCAD application.

DWG files are AutoCAD-produced drawings. These files require the AutoCAD application or a DWG viewer to be opened. Autodesk, the developer of AutoCAD, also produces a free DWG viewing application called DWG TrueView. Other third-party applications can be used to open DWG files, but DWG TrueView remains the best method as it maintains full compatibility with AutoCAD.

Instructions

      Obtain the DWG TrueView program via download and install the application.

      Open Windows Explorer by right-clicking the Start menu and choosing the "Explore" option.

    • 3

      Locate the DWG file you wish to open and double-click it to open it in DWG TrueView.
