How do I Bridge a Speedstream 5200 E240 Adsl Modem?

When installing a router such as the ones manufactured by Netgear, Linksys or D-Link, you can't simply connect a Speedstream 5200 E240 to the router and let it work itself out. The router must take over most of the Internet control, and the modem will not just simply give it up. To allow the router to work, the modem must be bridged from within.
