How to Sync a Laptop to a Server

How to Sync a Laptop to a Server thumbnail
Hook up your laptop directly to an Internet server.

A server is a computer network that allows multiple systems to connect and interact with each other, similar to an Internet connection (a server and a high speed Internet connection uses the same port and cable). Syncing a laptop computer with a server only requires a single cable and there is no need to alter the connection on the computer because it automatically detects the inserted cable and server.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert an Ethernet cable into one of the "Out" ports on the server hub.

    • 2

Plug the other end of the cable into the "Cat5" connection port on the side of the laptop. Once the server detects the laptop connection, a light appears next to the connection port (the same occurs with the laptop computer).

    • 3

Double-click the server icon in the lower right corner of the desktop to enable the connection. Momentarily the laptop computer connects directly with the system server.
