4. Patronize popular local eateries and bars. You will meet a comfortable mix of locals and tourists at these popular establishments.
5. Rent a car and drive to attractive day-trip destinations. Go to the mountains for a day of skiing, or head to the beach for an afternoon of relaxation.
6. Find out about hot spots from friends and co-workers who have experienced a previous shore leave at your destination.
