Downloading your albums from Facebook to your Mac computer can be accomplished by downloading a copy of all of your Facebook information, including a folder that contains all your photo albums. The downloaded photos are the same quality (size and resolution) as those originally uploaded to Facebook. You can also download individual pictures from an album using Safari. If you don't want to use the archiving option, you can use the free Pick&Zip software to access and download your Facebook photos.

Facebook Archive

Step 1

Click the "Gear" icon and "Account Settings" link from the drop-down menu on Facebook.

Step 2

Click the "Download a Copy of Your Facebook Data" link.

Step 3

Select the "Start My Archive" button on the Download Your Information page. When your archive is ready to download, you'll get an email notification. Return to the Download Your Information page and click the button to download your archive.

Step 4

Double-click the compressed file downloaded to your Mac to access your photos. If you want to add them to iPhoto, launch the iPhoto app and drag the photo album folder into the main window.

Pick&Zip

Step 1

Access the "Pick&Zip" website (see Resources) and click the "Login" button.

Step 2

Enter your Facebook credentials into the Log In dialog box. Click "Log In."

Step 3

Click the "Find My Photos" button to locate all the photos in your account, including albums.

Step 4

Select the "Download" tab and choose "Download All Photos." Select the ZIP format so that the native Mac Archive Utility can uncompress the folder when downloaded.

Step 5

Click the "Save" button when the files have finished processing and are ready for download.

Step 6

Double-click the compressed folder in Finder to access your photos.

Safari Download Album Pictures

Step 1

Launch "Safari" and click the "Facebook" logo to access your news feed.

Step 2

Click the "Photos" link in the Favorites section of the sidebar.

Step 3

Click "Albums" and right-click an album containing pictures you want to download.

Step 4

Click a photo you want to download from the album.

Step 5

Right-click on the photo and select "Save Image As..." and select a location on your Mac to save the photo. Click "Save." Alternatively, you can select "Add to iPhoto Library" if you have iPhoto installed on your Mac.

Step 6

Press the right arrow key to advance to the next photo in the album, and save the photo to your Mac.
