How to Make a Homemade Watch Winder

Automatic watches use kinetic energy to move their hands. When you don't wear it for some time, it stops and you have to adjust it to the right time. A watch winder is a device that is used to keep the watches on time when they are not worn. This device makes circular moves trying to emulate the human motion. If you use this kind of watches, then a watch winder is a must-have.

Instructions

    • 1

Drill a hole in the center of the box. Use a plastic box that is lighter than other materials. You might use the box in which the watch came.

    • 2

Cut a piece of packing foam. The piece must be equal to the box size. Use a knife since it is easy to cut.

    • 3

Cut a hole in the packing foam to match to your watch size. The watch must fit exactly. Cut it slowly and check if the strap fits.

    • 4

Insert the screw in the hole of the box. The screw must be wide enough to fit into the hole. It is important because the hole keeps the box attached to the turntable.

    • 5

Load the box with the packing foam and attach the watch to its position. Packing foam is elastic. If it is bigger than the box it is easy to adjust it.

    • 6

Attach the box to the record player. Put the screw that extends from the box in the center of the player. Wiggle it a little to check if it is stable.
