Configure an IP address on a server computer.

Although there are arguments for managing the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of server computers using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to centrally manage the addresses, it is still best practice to configure server Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) IP addresses statically for security reasons, as well as for management. In a few quick steps, you can configure a static IP address on a server computer.

Things You'll Need

  • Static IP address
  • Subnet mask
