Instructions

    • 1

Place an 18-inch square of cardboard onto a flat surface.

    • 2

Cut six 1-inch notches on two opposite sides of the square.

    • 3

Place the cardboard onto the table so that the notched sides face up and down.

    • 4

Wind yarn around the notches, pressing the yarn into each notch to secure it. This will create six vertical strings of yarn across the cardboard, effectively creating a loom.

    • 5

Cut a 1-inch notch into a 2-inch piece of cardboard.

    • 6

Press the end of a ball of yarn into the notch of the cardboard piece.

    • 7

Wind yarn around the cardboard piece until you have about 3 feet of yarn wound onto it. Cut off the ball of yarn.

    • 8

Starting on the left side of the cardboard loom, insert the cardboard piece over and under alternating strings across the loom.

    • 9

Push the woven yarn to the top of the board with a fork.

    • 10

Insert the cardboard piece back over and under the strings, working from the right to the left, alternating the strings in the opposite way as before.

    • 11

Push the woven yarn to the top of the loom again with a fork.

    • 12

Repeat this process, working from left to right and right to left, until you have used your entire length of yarn. Add more yarn to the cardboard piece, as needed, to complete your woven sheet.
