How to Remove Windows XP Activation Files

How to Remove Windows XP Activation Files thumbnail
It takes less than two minutes to remove the activation files in Windows XP.

Windows XP activation files are part of the WPA (Windows Product Activation) software that is installed on all Microsoft products. Sometimes even genuine registered products that have already been activated lose their activation status and WPA pops occur. A user who has a genuine copy of Windows XP can contact Microsoft support and they will quickly verify the authenticity of the copy. They will issue a new product key which will remove the activation files. If it is not convenient to contact Microsoft then a simple bit of coding will remove all the activation files in Windows XP.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start Menu," then click "Run." Type in "Regedit." The "Registry Editor" will open.

    • 2

Under "Computer" click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" then click "Software," click "Microsoft," click "Windows NT," click "CurrentVersion," finally click "WPAEvents."

    • 3

      Double click "OOBETimer." In the field that opens change the content to "FF D5 71 D6 8B 6A 8D 6F D5 33 93 FD."

    • 4

Find "WPAEvents(Regedit)" and right click on it. Select "Permissions." A pop up window will appear, click on the "System" tab and select "Deny" for all the items listed.

    • 5

Close "RegEdit." Reboot the computer. When the computer turns on it will no longer have the Windows XP activation files on it.
