Instructions

    • 1

Remove the index button from the end of the Pegasus faucet handle. You should be able to pop it out by hand. If you cannot remove it by hand, use a plastic putty knife to pry it loose from the faucet handle. Plastic will not scratch the faucet's finish unlike metal, which would easily ruin the faucet.

    • 2

Hold the faucet handle in its off position with one hand, and then unscrew the handle mounting screw with a Phillips screwdriver with your other hand. Rotate the screw counterclockwise until it's removed. It is not necessary to shut the water off to the faucet, as long as you can hold onto the handle. If you cannot do both at the same time, shut the water off to the faucet.

    • 3

Pull the handle straight off the Pegasus faucet stem by hand. Locate the inverter, the small plastic nut that adapts the handle to the cartridge stem. If it is inside the handle, great, leave it there. If it is still on the faucet stem, pull it straight off the stem by hand. You can now see the anti-scald temper adjustment control.

    • 4

Turn the Pegasus anti-scald adjustment lever to the right if you need to raise the water temperature. Turn the lever to the left to lower the water temperature. The water temperature-adjusting lever on your Pegasus faucet is the small plastic arm with a circular symbol stamped on its base.

    • 5

Test the water temperature with a cooking thermometer each time you make any adjustment. After each adjustment, set the faucet's handle inverter and handle back on the faucet cartridge stem, and then open the faucet. Let the water run for two minutes while reading the water temperature with your thermometer. When the desired temperature setting is reached, turn the faucet off, and then reinstall the handle screw and index button.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use any metal tool(s) to repair your Pegasus faucet unless necessary; metal tools can scratch the faucet's surface.

  • Raising the water temperature higher than the manufacturer's factory setting can cause severe bodily injury.
