You can save many printer problems through simple solutions that take only a few moments to execute, rather than waiting at least a few hours for a professional printer repair technician to fix the problem. If, after troubleshooting the problem, you do not come up with a solution, take the printer to a repair shop.

  1. Paper Jams

    • 1

      Pull out any loose paper in the printer's input or output trays. Do not try to remove any stuck pieces of paper.

      Turn off the printer and unplug the USB cable. Slide the two buttons on the printer's rear door to remove it.

      Pull out any stuck pieces of paper, including small bits stuck on the rollers. Replace the rear door and open the printer's ADF by pull up on the feeder tray.

      Remove any paper inside the ADF, including on the inside of the scanner's lid. Close the ADF until you hear a click.

      Pull out any stuck paper from the input tray. Open the front cover and remove any stuck paper inside the machine, including in the path of the cartridge carriage.

      Open the printer's back door and clean the rollers with a microfiber cloth dampened with distilled water. Allow the rollers to dry 15 minutes, then replace the back door.

    Will Not Print With Windows 7

      Unplug the USB cord from the printer. Click on the Windows icon then "All Programs" then "HP" then the folder for the 7310 then "Uninstall."

      Click on the Windows icon, then type "print" in the "Search Programs and Files" field and press "Enter." Select "Print Management" then click on "Print Servers."

      Right-click on the icon for the 7310 and select "Properties." Select the tab labeled "Drivers" then the 7310 in the list of printers and click on "Remove."

      Click on "Remove Driver and Driver Package" then "Ok." Click on "Apply" then restart the system.

      Insert the 7310's installation disc in the computer. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the printer's drivers and software.
